A Little Bit About Glen Ogilvie Public School

Glen Ogilvie is truly a community school. We serve Blackburn Hamlet and Chapel Hill. We welcome students from JK to grade 5. We offer programming in English and in French Immersion. We are an early French Immersion site and children enter our program in senior Kindergarten. Our English program starts in JK and continues to grade 5. We also have an ESL program.

Glen Ogilvie Public School community embodies the aphorism that "it takes a village to raise a child". Our main foyer is a testament to our community outreach, with plaques of appreciation from Spring Cleaning the Capital, Christmas Exchange, UNICEF, The Terry Fox Foundation, CNIB Volunteers, Recycling Council of Ontario, MS Read-A-Thon, and United Way, to name a few.

Glen Ogilvie staff, students, and parents work together to create a positive environment of mutual respect and cooperation. The school fosters a disciplined, caring climate where students are inspired to learn, and encouraged to embrace the responsibilities of good citizenship and leadership. Individual interests, talents, and skills are celebrated alongside our focus on litereacy, numeracy, and the value of life-long learning. At Glen Ogilvie we know that the future starts today, in our classrooms, hallways, library, gyms, and on our yard, with each and every child.

Our teachers are dedicated educators who are constantly updating their qualifications. Many on staff have post graduate degrees. Our teachers also serve as mentors for teacher candidates from Ottawa University and SUNY Potsdam. We have an active Parents'Council who fund raise and help Glen Ogilvie to develop a strong relationship between home, school, and the wider community served by the school, to help each student develop to his or her full potential. The School Council works closely with staff to promote a positive school climate, encourage school spirit, and to organize fundraising events. We also have a number of dedicated parent volunteers who read to our students and support our classroom activities.
